Description

Bob Dylan – Talking Bear Mountain Picnic Massacre Blues - WCF (Later Berkeley Records) Label

This is a release from WCF (White Cover Folks) Records, active 1970 - 1975, when they became Berkeley Records. This is NOT A BOOTLEG, it is simply a VERY RARE album containing outtakes and studio recordings by Dylan! I labeled ist incorrectly previously!!

Description from Discogs:

There has always been confusion as to the source tape for the fourteen tracks on this LP. According to the LP notes the tracks are a mixture of songs from the Minnesota tape, studio outtakes, and Witmark demos.

While 'Naomi wise' is certainly from the 12-22-61 Minneapolis tape, all of the other tracks are from the Freewheelin' recording sessions that ran through the second half of 1962.

In 1973/74 they started the transition from WCF to Berkeley Records producing titles with printed fold-out cover design and white labels.

-------------------

Due to the fact that this pressing has the thin gatefold cover & white labels it has to be a WCF Records title. The WCF label started with the fold out covers in late 1973/early 1974.

Something to Note: It appears that the white label on the LP (both A & B sides) is actually from a repurposed label from an ALAGA Records duo, "Roy C" & Linda Caver (AL 1009-A, AL 1009-B) from 1972 -which perfectly fits the timeline. I reverse imaged and enhanced the very faint red lettering on the label and was able to track down the artist and record. Oddly enough, this was a 45 label the was not cut for a 45 but was bleached and punched for this Dylan LP to save money instead. As with most WFC LPs, this album has a blank, Promo-type, label.
