Description
RARE 1965 Canadian PSYCH - PUNK GARAGE 45 (Apex 76971). Record is this Edmonton group’s first release . It’s very hard to find in any condition and this is a great copy. Songs are "I TOLD A LIE" and "DON'T YOU EVEN WANT TO KNOW". Record is VG++. Labels on record clean on both sides except for small knick on "A" side which you can see on scan.
-Mini bio: Canadian psych-pop group The Royal Family comprised of Michael Richards, Bob Edwards, Larry Hall and Ron Arthurs. They released just two singles, the first was I Told A Lie b/w Don't You Even Want To Know followed by Sometimes b/w Solitude. Both were released in 1965 on the Canadian Apex Record Label and are highly sought after by collectors of Canadian psych/garage music.
-I Told A Lie written by group member Larry Hall is a mid-tempo psych-pop number with strummed guitar, laid back drums and bass with melodic vocals from the unidentified lead singer with a bass voice which breaks in several times during the recording to great effect and there is a very smooth guitar solo.
- Don't You Even Want To Know was written by band member Bob Edwards and is a fast-tempo psych-pop rocker with terrific strummed guitar, driving bass and drums with melodic lead vocals from the unidentified lead vocalist with guitar chords melody similar to the T Bones 1966 instrumental No Matter What Shape.

VG+ = a nice, but used record that may have a series of light scuffs or scratches. It probably plays with a few pops, but has no serious problems.
VG = a well-used record that still sounds OK when played, but may have moderate surface noise, pops, etc.
VG- = a very well-worn record that plays through without skipping, but will do until a better copy comes along.
