Special note to foreign bidders: NO FOREIGN SHIP DUE TO HIGH PRICE! I declare foreign shipments as merchandise with the value you bid for them. Shipment to foreign buyers is via priority mail international with insurance for the value bid. Please e-mail for shipping costs before bidding as this method costs more, but is insurable and trackable. Example: United Kingdom 1-2 pounds $47.45 + $2.10 box/tape/pack = $49.55.

Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying.

Alternatively, if the ending winning bid is less than $50 and if you have perfect feedback and want this shipped first class international, it could be shipped that method with the understanding there is NO REFUND FOR ANY REASON since the item cannot be insured. Example: United Kingdom 1 pound 13 oz.: $24.15 + $2.10 = $26.25.

Feedback/bidding policy: I check feedback daily and will return feedback promptly. Although I go to great lengths to accurately describe my items, if you feel the merchandise is not as described, e-mail me BEFORE leaving feedback and we will resolve it. Please note I do allow returns (see return policy below).

Description: Up for your consideration is the next in a series of unique Lps, this one featuring Tommy and the Tune Sharks, a group apparently from in and around Green Rock, Illinois. Liner notes by Bobby Fischer, former member of the group before he moved to Nashville, Tennessee.

Group members:

  1. Erv Smith, bass
  2. Joe Newberry, drums
  3. Gail Wensel, sax
  4. Tommy Holder, vocal

The liner notes on the back state, in part:
" ...With this versatile combination the group plays Country, Rock, Pop and R&B and satisfies just about everybody's musical hunger in night clubs. Some of the cuts on the album were recorded with Tommy's former group at Sorensens Recording Studio. The group was called 'The Curios' consisting of Tommy & Joe plus Larry Kirk on bass and Lyle Wageman on lead, and I understand they also did some arranging. ..."

Several unique things about this item: Firstly, this disc retains the original shine with a fair number of very light to light marks (none of which I can feel) grading by sight in normal room light. I'm sure if you took this and put it under a 1000 watt bulb, you'd probably find something that makes it less than mint. If you're that kind of collector, let me suggest this auction is not for you.

I don't claim this record is mint. I took the time to play it and found some scattered very light to light pops, some very, very light to very light surface noise. Audibly average the tracks around VG+(excellent). You can assign your own grade based on the detailed audio report and grading scale shown within the description. Keep in mind how it plays for me may differ how it plays for you based on differences in audio equipment.

Secondly, at the time of this listing, no recent past/present sales on e-bay. NO COPIES FOUND FOR SALE OUT ON THE INTERNET! I found one past offering on e-bay from 2 years ago, asking price was $999.00!

So this is your chance to own a unique item at a reasonable price. Bid early and often so you don't miss out on this auction!

It is further described below, please take the time to read before bidding.

Please e-mail if questions.

Be sure to check my other listings to save postage on multiple winning bids. Please explore the "me" link next to feedback rating) to check out my store and some of the 15,000+ records I have for sale as well as the LP to CD transfer service I offer.

I am using the Goldmine scale of G=Good(1), VG = Very Good(2), VG+ = Very Good Plus(excellent)(3), NM = Near Mint(4) when grading the disc(s).

Here is a summary of the record(s):

Artist: Tommy and the Tune Sharks Title: Put it all together Record: Black vinyl with original shine and a fair number of very light to light marks (none of which I can feel) grading by sight in normal room light. Labels: Yellow/black with black/yellow print. No stickers, no pen/pencil marks, some spindle marks. Trailing wax: Side 1: "PRP 28381". Side 2: "PRP 28381". Inner sleeves: A generic, white sleeve with protective inner lining is being included. It has a gold circular/square gold design on it. Cover: The cover leaves much to be desired. There is a centered 1" seam split on top. There is a thin liquid mark on the lower left corner edge extending about two inches to the right and up the entire spine edge. A couple of small nicks on the front upper edge about 1" down from the top. Some seam wear. Corners slightly/moderately worn. Slight general/ring wear. No stickers, no pen/pencil marks. Rate the cover VG at best. You can assign your own grade based on my comments. Comments: The record appears slightly dished, but this should in no way affect playing. I took the time to play it and found some scattered very light to light pops, some very, very light to very light surface noise. Audibly average the tracks around VG+(excellent). You can assign your own grade based on the detailed audio report and grading scale shown within the description. A good addition to your LP collection. Additional criteria I use when audibly grading records for people:

  • NM(4) = absolutely nothing wrong at all (very rarely happens--I've even opened sealed records and they don't play Near Mint)
  • 3.5-3.9 = very, very light surface noise
  • 3.1-3.4 = very light surface noise, very light pops
  • VG+(3) = up to light pops and light surface noise (below this, one's enjoyment is affected, very subjective)
  • VG(2) = up to medium pops and moderate surface noise
  • G(1) = up to heavy pops and heavy surface noise

I normally ship a single record in a standard 12.5 x 12.5 x 1 record mailer. Weight with box is 1 pound 1 ounces. Shipping is $3.09 Media Rate (1-2 pounds) + $1.20 box/tape/pack = $4.29.
Alternatively, I can ship in a 14 x 14 x 6" box. Weight with box is about 1 pound 9 oz. Shipping is $3.09 Media Rate (1-2 pounds) + $1.70 box/tape/packing = $4.79.

This auction is currently set to ship in the smaller box. If you want the larger box, let me know and I'll send an appropriate invoice.
