Description
RARE! HARD TO FIND!
The Famous "320" Stamper.
While the album was re-released globally in 2008, the European and UK pressings distributed under the Back to Black Series utilized specific German metalwork. It was cut at Universal Schallplatten GmbH (formerly the PMDC/PolyGram plant in Hanover, Germany) and mastered by the highly respected engineer Willem Makkee.
You can identify this version by looking closely at the runout groove (the dead wax area near the center label). It features a stamped "320" code next to the matrix number.
Why Collectors Seek This VersionAmong contemporary audiophiles, the German "320" mastering is widely considered the absolute best modern pressing of the album.
The Mix: Unlike many modern reissues that compress the audio or use muddy digital source files, Makkee's 2001 lacquer cut (which Universal reused for this 2008 180-gram run) is entirely analog-sounding.
The Sound: It is legendary for its massive dynamic range, incredible bass punch, and raw, aggressive drum presence. Collectors frequently note that it "rips" and mimics the explosive energy of an original 1987 US first pressing.
