Description

Debut Hendrix album was pressed in South Africa with a unique cover that contains no photos, only text, due to the apartheid racial barrier. Not only is this release extremely rare, but it is a direct reflection of the ripple affect of a very unglamorous, yet historically significant, era.

ALBUM-Very Good (VG)

Thicker guage vinyl. The record has been play-tested and it plays through without any skips or unusually loud background noise, but there is crackling throughout due to numerous hairlines and a handful of scratches/scuffs on both sides. The crackling never overwhelms the music itself. It is largely the most audible at the outset of each side, then begins to dissipate as the record plays through. The only exception is in between songs. Initials on one of the labels. Overall, the album is a decent, playable copy, and may very well improve (to a certain extent) with a deep clean, but its' rareness and historical relevance to apartheid are the additional elements that make this record a great acquisition.

COVER-Good (G)
Very lightweight cardboard was used to manufacture this cover, which made it more susceptible to wear-and-tear. Partially split seam on the spine, but the top/bottom edges are still in tact. Creasing. Edge wear. The most glaring issue with this cover is a 2" or so horizontal closed tear starting about midway on right edge of the front cover. The back of the cover has some heavy creasing, several closed tears and some chipping. Name on the back cover. There is also splotches of age-tanning on the back that show due to the white background.
