Description

Jerry Garcia Merl Saunders Keystone Encores Vol 1&2 is a Promotional copy with Never Before Released material. The covers and vinyl are a solid Near Mint.
Live at Keystone is an album by Merl Saunders, Jerry Garcia, John Kahn, and Bill Vitt. It was recorded live at the Keystone in Berkeley, California on July 10 and 11, 1973, called Live at Keystone Volume I and Live at Keystone Volume II.
From February 1971 to July 1975, Merl Saunders and Jerry Garcia often played live shows together when the Grateful Dead were not on tour. For many of those concerts, their band had the lineup featured on this album — Saunders on keyboards, Garcia on guitar and vocals, John Kahn on bass, and Bill Vitt on drums.
On Allmusic, Lindsay Planer wrote, "... let the music speak for itself as Live at Keystone is chocked with inspired covers, each respectively extended and collectively improvised by co-instrumental leads Jerry Garcia (guitar/vocals) and Merl Saunders (organ) with Bill Vitt (drums) and John Kahn (bass). This was an ad-hoc configuration, as opposed to the organized touring unit that Garcia developed as the Jerry Garcia Band. From December of 1970 until the spring of 1974 — prior to the combo evolving into the Legion of Mary — the guitarist could often be found performing sporadically in and around San Francisco between engagements with the Grateful Dead. The quartet ably fuse rock with jazz in their spacy unfettered jams. These emerge from an eclectic composite of R&B and blues to seminal rock oldies and even popular standards." --------------------------------------------- As always there might be an occasional tick or pop on some of the vinyl which can be remedied by professional cleaning and using "Last" preservative to recondition the vinyl. All these have been ultrasonic cleaned but LPs need to be cleaned every couple of years.
All vinyl (except for sealed albums and new Mosaic Boxes) have been professionally cleaned with an Ultrasonic Cleaner and in some cases treated with the "Last" preservative. Plus all albums come with an external plastic protective cover. Wherever I can I include the original inner sleeve but put cleaned vinyl in a new white non-toxic paper sleeve.
Payment must be received within 3 days or order will be canceled. I include shipping on all albums, there is no additional shipping cost to buyer. Very well packaged and shipped via First Class mail or FedEx insured unless otherwise specified and I only ship within the United States. Message me for local pickup. If buyer wants a different shipping method it will be an additional charge per what it costs me. I am more than happy to email additional photos upon request.
IMPORTANT NOTE - Regarding the quality and playback of vinyl records. Vinyl, generally, is in various stages of quality depending on being an original pressing, deep groove, physical condition, and age of album. The older vinyl is usually dryer which creates little ticks and pops, but that can be handled by professionally softening records with with "Last" record preservation treatment. Another thing to consider is the quality of playback equipment like turntable cartridge and needle. Worn needles can cause all sorts of distortion and damage vinyl irreparably. Plus the difference in sound between a needle's shape, conical, elliptical or the other two can make a big difference in sound as well as picking up imperfections on the record. No vinyl is 100% perfect and even some have particles can be left from the pressing that have to be cleaned off for a pleasant listening experience.
I've been collecting for many years but for the pleasure of playing music not collecting special pressings for resale. I do not test play every album only visual inspection according to Goldmine standards. As stated all my albums have been professionally cleaned with my Ultrasonic cleaning system, except or new (sealed) and new Mosaic box sets (opened for inspection but never played).
When you buy an album or a lot of albums from me please ask questions, if you have any, or call me regarding what you're interested in to make sure it's what you are expecting to receive. The reason is there are no refunds on my albums. Once you buy and I ship, free of charge to you, there are no refunds. So make sure it's what you want. All record albums are sold as-is.

I cover all shipping costs unless an upgrade is requested then the additional fee is whatever is costs me.
