PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. RARE to find a CLEAN = Original 1970 first pressing of this highly praised guitar trio SWEET MARIE from Hawaii ...
The early '70s were intriguing times to be plying your trade amid the fauna and flora of Hawaii, if you happened to be a rock band.
It might've had something to do with the exotic climes and locales of the islands melding perfectly with the chemically enhanced strangeness and surreal vibes of the era (or maybe there was just something in the water?), but Hawaii played home to fiercely unique bands like the psychedelic groovers "Mu" and expatriate psychedelic trailblazers like John Cippolina, as well as serving as an important pit-stop for Jimi Hendrix and other heavy, heady artists.
Sweet Marie was yet another Hollywood California combo who emigrated to Hawaii, and they quickly became one of the hottest bands on Oahu after having a nationally successful first album, buying a nightclub there, and packing it nightly.
The guitar trio continued their popularity and success with the album, Sweet Marie, and it is a pretty strong, even occasionally exciting effort.
Sweet Marie's music was close in many ways to the bottom-heavy, groove-laden blues and rock amalgam of Hendrix and his "Band of Gypsys" (check out their version of "Changes") but with a cooler, more languid pace and darkly mystical undertones that closely recall their fellow Soiuthern California psych neighbors, Spirit, particularly in the harmonies.
The album features some really superb melodic hardrock tunes, as with "It Ain't Easy" and "I Want Your Woman," while "Do Do (Find Me a Way)" is fine hard rock and "Stella's Candy Store" amusingly innuendo-laden with complex moves and rhythms, gritty guitar injections
But Sweet Marie didn't have that distinctive spark that allowed their music to stand out enough and separate them from their era in comparison to the extravagant, alien hybrid arrived at by, say, Merrell Fankhauser and Jeff Cotton of "MU"
Nevertheless, it's a fine recording, and one that would be well worth grabbing for fans of off-the-beaten path early'70s hard rock private press vibe....

CONDITION: The cover: The thick gatefold cover is so hard to find clean, the white cover here is still white, graded: "EX" (excellent) and usually IF found is not this nice... tight sharp seams, no bends, no writing and strong original colors ... collection worthy rarity ...
The vinyl: Even better, both sides are beautifully M- looking immaculate and playing perfect .. both Yardbird labels ar clean
