Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Getting harder to find by the day ....
Original 1969 first -GATEFOLD- pressing vinyl in specially designed DOME gatefold cover of the little known, obscure MESSENGERS album who perform consistently through BOTH sides!
- One of the first groups signed to the RARE EARTH label was the Messengers, who had started in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1966. They recorded a version of "Midnight Hour" [USA 866] as a favor to a local deejay, and were spotted by Motown scouts at a Dave Clark Five concert, where they were one of the local acts opening the concert. They went to Detroit to sign with Motown, and while there, Chicago-based U.S.A. records was looking at a potentially hot record, but no group. U.S.A. then imported a group from Boston and renamed them "Michael and the Messengers," and reissued "Midnight Hour" as by "Michael and the Messengers." With both a record and a band to play locally, the song went to #5 in Chicago. The fictitious name was a matter of some amusement for this real MESSENGERS band, as they were always asked which one of them was "Michael." Since they had no one in the group by that name, they took turns being "Michael" at different playing dates. The new group then recorded a remake of "(Just Like) Romeo and Juliet" [USA 874], which made #12 in Chicago, but after that, "Michael and the Messengers" was finished.The original Messengers, meanwhile, minus organ player Jesse Roe (whose parents wouldn't let him sign), got a contract with Motown and eventually recorded one of the first albums for the new Rare Earth label, as well as a national chart hit with "That's the Way a Woman Is" [Rare Earth 5032] in 1971. The album is solid - a competently performed mix of '60s styles and grooves with garage-rock edges. They had relocated to Chicago around the time this LP was recorded
