RARE MOTOWN

THE MARVELETTES

BEECHWOOD 4-5789/SOMEDAY SOMEWAY

ORIOLE CBA1764.

RELEASED 1962.

Together with Mary Wells’ ‘You Beat Me To The Punch’ and The Contours’ ‘Do You Love Me’ this record was in the first batch of Tamla Motown records released in the U.K. on the Oriole label in September 1962. I bought this brand new at the time and it has been in my vast collection of Soul, R&B and Blues records ever since.

Incidentally, Marvin Gaye co-wrote ‘Beechwood 4-5789’ and he also played drums on the recording.

Both sides of the record play absolutely perfectly. Visibly, the record looks very clean. Over 59 years it has been played and handled a few times but, as I have said, plays perfectly. I can hear no extraneous surface noise. There is no handwriting on the record and I have graded it as Excellent (EX). [Any reflections in the photos are caused by the surroundings and are not on the vinyl.]

The record is in it’s original sleeve, which has no tears. Over 59 years the sleeve has been handled quite a bit but is in remarkably good condition. The only very small bit of handwriting on the sleeve is it’s catalogue number (1764) written by me in the top right-hand corner on the front. I have graded the sleeve as Very Good+.

The well packaged record will be despatched by Royal Mail Special Delivery, fully insured, at a subsidised cost of £5.

I always endeavour to combine postage where possible.

U.K. delivery only.
