Review: Those familiar with the work of recording engineer/loudspeaker designer, David Wilson, will know what an audiophile treat they have in store for them with this tasty rarity. This is titled Magnum Opus Volume Two and it features organ pieces by Bach, Albright, Widor, Lubeck, Parker, and Vierne and performed by James Welch. Recorded on the Flentrop Organ of St. Marks Cathedral, Seattle, Washington. The organ heard in this recording was, at the time of recording, the magnum opus of Dirk Flentrop. Delivered in 1965, it served as a catalyst for the organ reform movement in the Pacific Northwest, a region now literally resounding with modern tracker instruments. The organ has 55 sounding stops and 76 ranks played by mechanical (tracker) key action and electric slider stop action. The casework is made of solid African mahogany and stands an incredible 45 feet high in the choir loft. The depth of image of this classic recording is startling and it's a true Audiophile Connoisseur's dream come true.
