Description
I am selling Neil Diamond's original 1st single on Columbia. This is the stock (record store) copy which is rarer than the promo copy. Labels are slightly soiled and Clown Town side has a signature on the label. Both sides of record play great with minimal background noise.
"AT NIGHT" was Neil's debut "demo" recording for Columbia Records way back in 1962. That's the year Neil was signed for one single release which was to be recorded in 1963 and was actually the "A Plug Side" of CLOWN TOWN." Neil said of his "At Night" recording...."that was me trying to be Neil Sedaka."
Also included in this auction is a seldom-seen framed promotional advertisement copy for "AT NIGHT"....which was Neil's introduction to the music world.
Wording in upper left of ad reads: "THE NEXT BIG SOUND YOU HEAR"....wording on the bottom right reads: "WILL BE NEIL DIAMOND'S NEW COLUMBIA SINGLE 'AT NIGHT.' ....Columbia Singles Sell...Another Hit from Blackwood Music. This truly rare advertisement copy is nicely framed in a 13"x16" walnut frame that includes black felt matting and picture backing and hanger. Buyer to pay $10.00 priority insured mailing.
