PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. RARE Original first pressing UNDERGROUND PRIVATE PRESS from California ... For the past 40 years, Bobby has stuck with his vision of a "one man show", always creating new instruments and new styles of singing and playing as he went along. Bobby's voice is perhaps his most remarkable instrument. Covering a six octave range (possibly the widest range ever recorded) it is capable of creating almost any texture he desires. But his "one man band" is not to be overlooked. Originally composed of about fifty instruments it contained 311 string instruments and took three hours to set up and tune. Instruments varied from a tiny electrified spring to a monstrous fifteen foot electrified drone. Some were of original invention, while others were electrified versions of instruments found around the world. With this set, he recorded his first album in the early '70s, "THE ENLIGHTENING BEAM OF AXONDA." An extension of his doctoral thesis begun at UCLA, it contains a story about possible new discoveries in physics that could lead to technological advances that would in turn lead to a very unique and very optimistic view of the future.
The first two Bobby Brown albums (no not about Whitney Houston's former husband), are the ones that seem to get all of the attention and coverage. That's unfortunate since "Prayers Of A One Man Band" may be the best and most enjoyable of Brown's albums. Like the others, this was a one man project with Brown responsible for writing, performing and producing all 12 tracks. It was also released on his own Private press Destiny label with most copies being sold at his impromptu performances. In addition to a priceless picture of Brown's homegrown multi-instrumental contraption, his considerable charms including a multi-octave voice, a knack for penning catchy (if goofy) songs (check out 'The Boy a Sailor' and 'Hawaii Net I'll Miss You', and a likeable counter-cultural outlook on life were all on display. Musically the set sounded a little fuller and more sophisticated than the two earlier releases (perhaps a reflection of the fact it was recorded across nine separate studios). The other difference detected is Brown's mix of personal insight and social and political commentary shifted towards a more activist stance including commentary on animal rights ('If the Angels Cry'), environmental ('Sweet Clean Air'), social and political issues. His voice certainly remained an amazing instrument, capable of replicating Beach Boys-styled harmonies and even turning in a wild Tony Joe White swamp rock segment (check out 'Jungle Cowboy'). Besides, how could you not get a charge out of somebody who was willing to dedicate an album to:
