Description

Here is an extremely hard to find and obscure Phil Spector related single by The Treasures, featuring Pete Anders: "Hold Me Tight" b/w "Pete Meets Vinnie" (Shirley 500). Released in 1964. Produced by Phil Spector. Arranged by Jack Nitzsche.

The A side is a Beatles tune written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. It appears on the "With the Beatles" LP (and on the US version, "Meet the Beatles"). This is the second of two versions of "Hold Me Tight" that Spector recorded. The first was a cover by The Imaginations, meant for the Phil Spector label (intended as Phil Spector 3). The B side is written by Annette Merar, Phil Spector's first wife (the label misspells her name as "Mirar").

Pete Anders is Pete Anderoli, who teamed with Vincent Poncia, Jr. to form The Trade Winds ("New York's a Lonely Town"). Both Pete and Vinnie (after whom the B side is named) collaborated with Phil Spector, as writers and producers. Shirley Records is named after Phil Spector's sister. This was the only single released on that label.

Record is in VG+ condition. I recently sold a copy that was in better condition, but this one is close to being among the finest copies of seen. Labels are clean (no writing, stickers, or tears). But you can see from the photo that there is some light yellow staining on the "Pete Meets Vinnie" label, on the bottom right. Vinyl has high gloss, just some very light scuffs.
