We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. Exceedingly rare... only the second copy we have ever had... this is a PRE-RELEASE from 1971 although was recorded in 1968 and not released until three years later... this is the FIRST PRESSING and an especially rare promo at that.
ADVANCED RELEASE PROMOTIONAL
This IS the only album ever from The Ashes -- a group who both pre-dated and post-dated Peanut Butter Conspiracy -- morphing into that famous act after an initial 60s run, then changing back to Ashes form with this group featuring female singer Pat Taylor! Taylor's got a style that's folksy, but a bit fierce too -- a quality that almost gives the group a Jefferson Airplane sound on vocals. Tunes are relatively straightforward, occasionally a bit rootsy -- late 60s California underground work at its best, although more Northern California than southern.
With the addition of two new members, the band was transformed into the Peanut Butter Conspiracy, who of course recorded two essential west coast psych albums for Columbia in 1967 & 1968. John Merrill resurrected Ashes in late 1968, around the same time that Alan Brackett was working on the tracks that would ultimately constitute the Peanut Butter Conspiracy's "FOR CHILDREN OF ALL AGES" album. The Ashes recorded their debut LP for Vault Records in 1968; it stands today as a staple of the collector's market.

CONDITION: The cover: rated: VG(+). front cover with promo sticker. The black borders on the front cover have light wear hence the grade, not showing up in photo but clearly with light wear to the naked eye. When you get past that the cover is very solid. The back cover is excellent (EX) ... there are no delete marks, no split seams, no bends, and no writing ... VERY collection worthy ...
The vinyl: Rated: very clean, rated: "EX" (excellent) to M- plays clean with mint audio all the way through! Best copy around for the audio and rarity ...Both VAULT Records labels are absolutely clean ... 47 years of age and always been RARE!
