Description
Up for auction is this ULTRA RARE RCA Bluebird #5385 McCoy (Memphis Minnie) and Johnson (Kansas Joe). This 78 was released in 1930. The song titles are "Don't Want No Woman" and "Never Told a Lie". This features fantastic early blues guitar playing and signing. Also notice the great vocal dialog between Minnie and Joe on the "Don't Want No Woman" track. Record still maintains its "velvety" luster and plays straight through both songs. There are two super slight pops on "Never Told a Lie" that are very hard to notice and do not detract for the overall playability of the track. There are no pops or cracks on the "Don't Want No Woman" track and it plays through beautifully! Background noise is present, but not nearly what you would expect to find on a 78 of this vintage. According to the VJM record grading system for 78's this one would fall somewhere between an E- and a V+. The labels on both sides are in fantastic condition (see pictures) without any tears, stains or writing. On the "Never Told a Lie" label there is slight smudging that I am sure can be removed if done properly. I did not want to compromise the record due to incorrect cleaning. This is a fantastic addition to any record collection and a must have for any fan of the Blues. A true vinyl gem! Thank you for looking and good luck! No Reserve!!! 5 DAY AUCTION. Free shipping to the lower 48. Hawaii, Alaska and International bidders please contact me before bidding for actual shipping rates. I accept paypal or money order. No Zero or excessive negative feedback bidders.
