Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us.  Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable.  We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback.   We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support.   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING:   USA ~ 1 LP = $4.00 Media Priority rates vary by area; please inquire.   All Canadian and Overseas shipping ~ Please inquire about rates. Seldom Seen ADVANCED RELEASE PROMOTIONAL COPY!

RARE, "cool now sounds from the sixties" ...1968 first printing with unipack gatefold cover and on the highly collected rainbow Capitol label...this is a "rare" one onh the label and of course is a killer obscurity with vibrant, often thrilling garage punk psych sensibilities ... anyone into the Lollipop Shoppe needs to investigate!

The Koala were a late 60's group who released only one album on Capitol Records, which was ignored at the time, but decades later became highly sought-after by collectors of obscure garage pysch. A psych rock jewel from this band, based in New York. Late 60's garage/psych featuring psyched-out fuzzy leads, aggresive/powerful rhythm section and superb vocals. The Koala mixes the Who's frantic rhythms and Stones-style garage rock with riotous psych leads and venomous, proto-punk vocals. The vocals and overall garage/psych sound are very similar to the Lollipop Shoppe LP. This is another lost treasure from the 60’s and an absolute must for garage/psych heads.
The Koala was comprised of the songwriting duo of lead singer Jose Mala and guitarist Joey Guido. The line up was rounded out by drummer Joe Alexander, lead guitarist Louis Caine and bassist Anthony Wesley. In New York they somehow attracted the attention of Blues Magoos managers Art Polliemus and Bob Wyld, who helped them land a contract with Capitol. With Poliemus and Wyld producing, the band debuted with the single ‘Don’t You Know What I Mean’ b/w ‘Scattered Children’s Toys’ (Capitol catalog number 2365). The single did nothing commercially, but Capitol agreed to fund an album. With Poliemus and Wyld again producing, the band returned with 1969's cleverly titled “The Koala”. Mala handles all the lead vocals with the classic sneer of swagger and 'cool'. On tracks such as ‘Don’t You Know What I Mean’, ‘Look At the Way She Comes’ (the sneering lyrical delivery makes one think of the Shadows of the Knight meets Lollipop Shoppe... Perhaps because they were such atypical efforts, the dreamy, pseudo-psychy ‘Nothing’s Changed and ‘Elizabeth’ stand as two of the albums best tracks. Regardless, if you’re looking for snotty, in-your-face vocals, backed by tons of loud, feedback laced guitar (check out ‘Poppa Duke Tyler’), then this is a set that will appeal to you.
