This great little 45 just oozes Rockabilly swagger. This is one of the best rocking, upbeat, female Rockabilly singles ever cut.
This is a very scarce, limited distribution, Rockabilly bopper on the small independent Sage label out of Los Angeles.

I got this great upbeat Rock-a-Billy 45 many years ago, in the early 70s, enjoyed it for awhile, then put it away in my 45 vinyl collection. It's been hanging out there for almost 50 years, only gets an occasional spin, and it needs a new home. Someone else's turn to enjoy it.
Recorded for the small independent Sage record company, based out of Hollywood and released in the summer of 1958. This 45 comes on the great early Black and Silver SAGE script label.
~~~~ Despite making such a great song, not much is known about Patsy Clark. 
She popped up with this great Rockabilly tune in the summer of 1958 and just as quickly disappeared.
This was released on Woodie Fleener's Sage label, which was a small independent label based out of Hollywood in Los Angeles.
This classic track was written by Hank Williams' former bass player, Hillous Butrum, who was working at the time as Marty Robbins' bassist and music publisher. They ran a Company called 'Bee-Are' that published this song. 
The flip side, a nice, slower paced, teen ballad, 'Walking And Dreaming' was co-written and co-published by Murray Nash, a well-known promoter for Acuff-Rose in Nashville.
That strongly suggests that this hot number was recorded in Nashville, but there's little information to confirm that.
There's even some debate about who the session players were, but it seems likely that Hank Garland was on guitar and Boots Randolph blew sax.
Nobody is even sure where Patsy Clark came from, or where she went to, after this great single.
There's some theory that Clark was from Ohio, as there is proof she was working in several hillbilly acts in that area just before she cut this record. She performed at the time along with Bobby Bobo, who actually did live in Ohio at the time. She likely had her ear on the emerging Rockabilly scene out of Cleveland and Cincinnati.
Bobby Bobo also had recorded previously for Sage, so it seemed Patsy Clark was turned onto that small label through him.
Fleener did have ears in Ohio, in the way of one of his A&R men, Pat Nelson, and it's likely that Nelson also somehow sent Patsy to Sage.
Sage was a very small independent label that didn't record many of their own artists, despite having their own small studio. Fleener mostly leased songs from others for limited release.
I've read and also been told by fellow 45 collectors that Sage didn't have much in the way of National distribution deals and therefore most of his records were sold by mail order.
That would help explain why this 45 is so obscure and hard to find.
A great song but it rarely turns up for sale. Good quality copies are exceedingly rare.
~~~ Sage Records was started by Woodie Fleener in 1953. Fleener issued records under 3 different names: Sage and Sand Records, Sage Records and Sand Records. 
He had a small office and an even smaller studio. He started out on the 5600 block of Hollywood Blvd, near the Capitol Records tower, then moved to an office on N. Wilcox in the 1960s and later to N. Gordon street, just off Hollywood Blvd, sort of bouncing around Hollywood.
Most of the artists on Sage and Sand recorded and produced their own sessions and leased the finished masters to Woodie - or perhaps they worked out a deal to press a limited quantity of 45s to sell at personal appearances. A pretty small production number. Sage records are hard to find and highly collected.
Despite being small, Sage was an Important Los Angeles independent label, releasing some great up-tempo hillbilly, upbeat country, rockabilly and rock & roll singles. Despite toughing it out for nearly 15 years, releasing many up-tempo boppers and all kinds of rockers, they only managed to produce one hit.
~~~~~ This record is in terrific condition for its age. Clean, no obvious flaws or damage. Both the vinyl and labels look great. Very slight rim wear around the center hole. The vinyl looks terrific on both sides. Minimal plays and minimal handling. One of the best copies I've ever seen, not that I've seen that many over the years. This record rarely turns up for sale.
I'd call it VG+/EX- but that's not an option when listing. See the enclosed photos for the best sense of condition. You'll be very happy with it!

All 45s come in generic stock white paper sleeves and simple poly-bags, unless otherwise pictured or mentioned. I do try to match up proper, appropriate generic company sleeves with my 45’s and I’ll gladly include them if I have them. 
All records have been carefully evaluated and graded by me. I visually inspect all records under bright light and personally clean them to get a true feel for condition. If still in doubt, i will play them on my modern high-end turntable to get an even more accurate feeling for condition. Most all my records are graded visually.
Please look at all the high-resolution pictures I added. They are all my own and are of the actual record being sold. The pictures are part of the description and can show small details, label variations, and condition better than I can put into words. 
I’ve been told by other vinyl collecting friends that I under-grade the condition of my records. I see no harm in that. If that VG+ record comes and it’s nicer that you thought, great! We’ve all been burned by that EX- record purchase only to get it and it looks like it was cleaned with sandpaper and played with a rusty nail. My goal is to avoid that ever happening to me or you ever again. My grading is fair and honest and I will ALWAYS refund you for anything you’re not happy with.
