RARE SCIENTOLOGY POP-ROCK LP (1975): THEE AWAKENING Love LRS-1001 Samuel Gerber

This seldom seen 1975 LP (not listed at all at discogs and the only other copy on eBay is $250) was created by Samuel G. Gerber, who, according to the liner notes, “has attained the level auditor of H.C.A. [Hubbard Certified Auditor] and achieved the State of Clear.” Songs are by Gerber, Don Great, and Dick Hieronymous, sung by Don Great (with backgrounds by Sherry Fisher and Sharlot O’Hara), with backing from studio musicians including Jim Gordon, Michael Omartian, Louie Shelton and Dean Parks. To quote from the notes: “’THEE AWAKENING’ has the Master Of The Commodore’s Musical Seal Of Excellence, Publications Org. Release and LRH, FLAG International I/A.” The notes contain forewords to each song by Gerber. Example for the most rocking song on the album, “Dragon, You’re a Drag On Me”: “THIS IS A FUN SONG WITH A GREAT BEAT THAT EXPOSES IGNORANCE [THE DRAGON]. THIS IS AN EXPOSE OF THE REACTIVE BANK, WHICH WE KNOW, ONLY THE TECHNOLOGY OF SCIENTOLOGY CAN CASTE [sic] OUT AND ERASE. WE CAN GO FOR FREEDOM WITH SCIENTOLOGY OR PLAY THE GAME OF LIFE TO<LOSE WITH HE DRAG, KNOWN AS THE DRAGON.”

Record is VG+ with light wear, with a few light scuffs. Jacket is VG with some surface wear, a small stained area, and damage on the corners.

LPs, EPs and 45s are graded M (mint), NM (near mint), VG+, VG (very good), VG-, G+, G (good), G-, F (fair), and P (poor).

A VG+ record may have some visible scuffs and light scratches and plays well with little surface noise. Scratches on records graded VG and VG- may be deep enough to feel with your fingernail, or there may be scratches throughout that cause surface noise. On records in the G+, G and G- range the level of the music is still above the surface noise caused by scuffs and scratches. Surface noise is as loud as the music on records graded F and louder than the music on P records. P records are likely to be unplayable.

[+ and - denote in-between grades. Grades with a slash in between indicate the condition of Side A/Side B.]

Jackets graded VG+ have only slight wear; jackets graded VG are more worn but still intact unless defects are noted. G jackets show definite damage and F and P jackets are probably falling apart. Splits, markings, cut corners, and other defects will be noted.
