Description
This album was issued in 1978 prior to the band getting a recording contract with Polydor. Side one contains tracks recorded for John Peel and side two consists of demos. There are 5 tracks on side two but the record label omits carcass and only lists 4 tracks, although Carcass is shown on teh sleeve listing.
I have taken pictures of the sleeve and close ups etc but limited as I am by the number of photos Amazon allows, I will have to give some explanatory descriptions as well.
Photo 7 shows the bottom edge of the sleeve, that rubs against the shelf when stored and as you can see it is rubbed. The top edge, which I have not photographed is also rubbed but to about half the extent of the bottom edge.
Photo 8 shows the spine which is white and so does not show as rubbed in the photos but it is . You will get a better idea of the rubbing if you look at teh black edge on the spine.
You can see from photos 1 and 2 that there is a visible disc ring front and back where the record has pressed against the sleeve.
Photos 9 , 10, 11 & 12 give close ups of various parts of the sleeve. There are no tears, rips or rubbed through areas on the sleeve but all the corners are rubbed and creased to a lesser or greater extent and there are creases along the bottom edge , less so on the back edge and not much at all on the top edge. Combined with careful study of photos 1 and 2 you should be able to see that all the wear is associated with storage and not abuse.
Photo 3 shows one side of the disc, the other side of the disc would look the same, these sorts of photos are never very illuminating but photos 4 and 5 shows that there is very little spindle wear. Looked at without light reflecting off the vinyl it is difficult to see any scratches but held at an angle there are quite a few light surface scratches commensurate with some frequent but careful playing. However I have played it in its entirety and there are no jumps, hisses etc but
Side 1, 2nd track metal postcard there are a sequence of 7 pops, one per revolution of the album
Side 1 6th track overground, theer is a sequence of three pops (one per revolution) then a few seconds and then three more pops.
Side 2, 1st track Hong Kong Garden there is one pop,
Side 2 track 4 carcass the track has one pop and then a few seconds elapse and then another pop.
The vinyl comes in a line bag which is browned enough to suggest it is the original and has no tears.
