Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. SUPER RARE ORIGINAL...ltd etd pressed on GOLD VINYL ! a hellacious rousing rocked-up performance by the FACES w/ ROD & the gang at the top of their powers....

The Faces started out as a reincarnated version of those mod popsters the Small Faces, but eventually established a completely different identity (changing their name helped a little). The Small Faces had been cast adrift when guitarist/frontman Steve Marriott got a bee in his bonnet and took off to create a new band with Peter Frampton (Humble Pie). Within a year, however, Ronnie Lane and company were able to convince Rod Stewart and Ron Wood - who had just quit (or rather, been abandoned by) Jeff Beck ( of 'The Jeff Beck Group' - to fill in.

At this point Rod 'the Mod' Stewart and Ron Wood worked closely within the Faces. As a result, ex-Small Faces member Ronnie Lane was effectively isolated and reduced to a second-string songwriter, driving him to quit in frustration. But while it lasted, the band established itself as the second-best bluesy early 70s English rock act - after the Stones, of course.

The Faces never had the slightest idea of how to expand on the I-IV-V key of B or E formula that they had stolen from American R & B acts. But neither did the Who or the Stones, and it's no surprise that the Faces finally broke up when Wood joined the Stones, with pianist Ian McLagan later tagging along for the ride. This record catches the band on a great night finding the FACES trying hard to imitate the rambling, hard-boozing country-blues approach the Stones had perfected on Exile On Main Street ... the band is tight and rocking including strong slide-guitar laden ballads & classic tracks from their 'First Step' album ... noted is a strong take on the Stones 'Love In Vein' & 'Honkey Tonk Women' but it's like their high flying "Around The Plynth" where these the boys just don't know when to stop, stretching the material beyond its limits in this fun Oct 30 1970 Santa Monica gig...
