Here is something you are not likely to ever see again. On Nov 17, 1937, the Hal Kemp Orchestra had a recording session in Hollywood. They recorded 4 different tunes, one of them was this one, 'Roustabout'. 3 of the songs were eventually issued on Victor label 78 rpm records, but this song had some technical issues discovered when they made an 'in house' test pressing. The recording was rejected and never published. This is that test pressing!
They had another recording session on Nov 23, 1937 which included another attempt at this tune, but that one was rejected, too. As far as I know, they didn't try for a third recording.
Pretty much then this would be the only known example of that recording! RARE!
This pressing has never been available on the open market. It is from the estate of a long time collector who purchased it originally from the estate of an RCA Victor employee, salvaged by him from the garbage dump. If you've ever heard a recording of this tune by Hal Kemp, it was most likely transcribed from this record! It is not a perfect recording, but it is enjoyable to listen to. It was a bad day for the recorder when they recorded this tune. Too bad. FREE SHIPPING TO U.S.
