RAY CONNIFF
“RAY CONNIFF EN VIÑA”
MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original CBS Records very first Stereo press released by DISCOS CBS, made and distributed in Chile in 1981 by EMI Odeon Chilena S.A. (EMI Records Chile), licensed from CBS Inc., USA, catalog number 15223, with hand etched matrix numbers A-15223 Y 3 in Side A and B-15223 Y 2 in Side B, with orange/black CBS Recods labels and white “DISCOS CBS” logo. Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile!!!
“RAY CONNIFF EN VIÑA” is an obscure compilation album of Ray Conniff only released here in Chile, after his participation as a jury of the International Viña Del Mar Festival in February of 1981, which included a chorus of 8 Chilean singers, 4 men and 4 girls, and the orchestra included strings, but the songs included in this album aren’t the live songs he performed in the show in Chile, they are recorded in studio, so it’s a compilation album with UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE remembering he was in Viña Del Mar Festival!!! The cover is fully laminated and made of a single piece of cardboard folded in the middle with back cover pasted on the flips of the front cover. The cover includes color photos of Ray Conniff during the show, 6 of them in front cover and 2 in back cover. In labels and back cover the album title and tracklist are written in Spanish, with the tracklist translated to English with full credits for songwriters of each song. It’s interesting to see that song “Tema De Lara De “Doctor Zhivago”” is written in Spanish only in both back cover and label, the song is “Lara’s Theme” of Dr. Zhivago movie. The other song didn’t translate to English is the Brazilian song “El Progreso” (The Progress). So, here you have the chance to get and own this UNIQUE COMPILATION ALBUM released for Chilean market only in February of 1981 to take advantage of the presence of Ray Conniff in Chile, album released with UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE with photos of Ray Conniff on stage during the show!!! A MUST TO HAVE for all fans, lovers and collectors of Ray Conniff and/or Easy Listening Pop music!!! WOW!!!
The cover was already described and it’s in great VG+ or EX- condition, no writings, faint ring marks, no blemishes, only general wear and creases, more evident in the mouth edge and corners, with lamination still complete. The record is in EX or EX+ condition, glossy and clean, with only light scuffs and soft hairlines, hard to see at first sight, which don’t affect play at all. Labels on both sides are in great NM or NM+ condition, clean and clear, just like new, but some past owner wrote the words “Balada” (Ballad) and “Genesis” in both labels, so I will grade them as EX or EX+ only. The sound is the best part, it’s in superb NM- or even NM condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), only some very light and barely audible occasional crackles here and there, hard to hear if you are not looking for them and that, of course, don’t cause any distraction from the great sound this record keeps. Overall, this is MEGARARE record with UNIQUE COVER, exclusive for Chilean market, with a very nice glossy look, immaculate labels and amazing sound quality after about 42 years!!! Yes Sirs, what a FIND!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail. WOW!!!
Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…
Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile
____________________________________________
We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.
MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.
NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.
EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK
We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive a positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
