Description

RAY WYLIE HUBBARD SOMETHING ABOUT THE NIGHT Another impossible to find RWH album. As there doesn't appear to be any reviews, i thought i would give the history behind Ray's "Redneck Mother". If you have seen Hubbard live, the chances are you've heard the story as an intro. This copy has also been signed by Ray in the middle of the front sleeve in blue ink. One night at a song-swapping session in Red River, New Mexico, the pickers ran out of beer. Ray Wylie Hubbard drew the  short straw and went out for supplies. It was late, and the only place he could find open to buy beer was a funky little bar  run by a well-worn older gal and her “super-sized” son in his mid-thirties. These were tense times. It was the early 1970s,  when the hippies and rednecks were at each other’s throats; Muskogee had declared war on San Francisco, and the red,  white, and blue of Old Glory challenged the Tie-Dyed T-shirt for cultural superiority. Ray realized that he’d have to march  into the den of the lion to score some suds, which he was duty-bound to do, so he put on his ultra-dark John Lennon shades  hoping that he might not be noticed. It didn’t work, of course, and after about a half hour of abuse, he emerged with all body  parts intact, his sense of humor, a case of cold Pabst, and the classy little gem that he wrote to honor this singular Mother  & Son tag-team: Side One Side Two Texas Is A State Of Mind Low Life Companionss Hoodlums Of Love The Nights Never Get Lonely Dallas After Midnight Volcano Love Hello Early Morning (The Last Recording Of) Redneck Mother (Ever). There is a reason why i have opened  a new account with eBay to sell rather than use my existing account. I have in the last year or so returned to my Christian belief.  I want to follow what is scriptual in disposing of what, quite honestly, has been a bit of a millstone around my neck. One day i  looked around at all the many thousand items that filled two rooms and came to a dawning realisation that i had no idea what  90% of all this stuff was. I mean, i could go and buy something, play it once, log it, and that was the last i ever saw of it. So, this has  handed me a golden opportunity to turn around this situation into something positive. I usually find something to say about what  i am selling along with a track listing for albums. I hope that my passion and love for these items shines through occasionally  amongst my rambling. So why would i want to just give them away. Simple, my love for Jesus as my redeemer is even greater.  Matthew chapter 19 verses 16-21 gives my explanation for giving the lot to the Haiti Hospital Appeal. So keep watching as there  are loads of serious stuff to come (Unreleased Gram Parsons acetate, a couple of hundred Westwood one type radio shows,  unreleased Townes Van Zandt acetate and hundreds more of similar ilk).
