Synopsis
Cult artist Pettibon is probably best known for his cover illustration of Sonic Youth's 1990 record GOO ("I stole my sister's boyfriend. It was all whirlwind, heat and flash..."). Pettibon, who came out of California's surf-punk scene, walks the line between art and illustration with his elegant, enigmatically-captioned drawings. This reader exposes the literary side of Raymond Pettibon's art by juxtaposing his work with writings by authors--from Charles Manson to Henry James--who have inspired him.
