Description

SIR EDWARD ELGAR -

Introduction & Allegro for Strings

SAMUEL BARBER -

Adagio for Strings

Charles Munch/Boston Symphony Orchestra

RCA BCS-139

2-Track Stereo for "In-Line" heads

7 1/2 ips; 7-inch reel; notes on back of box

Please note: for proper balances on playback, all 2-track tapes must be played on a 2-track machine.   Playback on a 4-track machine will not give even weight to the channels and may not be satisfactory.

Recorded in Symphony Hall, Boston

March 13 & April 3, 1957

Richard Mohr, producer

For comments on the LP issue, see The Abso!ute Sound: Issue #36, Page 122.

One of the last of the RCA 2-track issues, this was first listed in the RCA "New Releases" flyer dated October 1958.  It was last listed in RCA's February 1961 catalog, after which it disappeared (along with all the rest of the 2-tracks), so it was available only for a very short time.

The tape is in excellent condition; its box shows only minor shelf wear.
