Description
LP Friedman: Ravel, Chausson, Sarasate, Wieniawski - German RCA LSC-2689-B This superlative LP from RCA (LSC-2689-B, German Teldec · Telefunken-Decca pressing, Red Seal label, stereo, laminated jacket) features the splendid violinist Erick Friedman in dazzling mixed program, recorded in the fabled acoustics of Kingsway Hall, London during 23-28 May 1963 with Sir Malcom Sargent and the London Symphony Orchestra providing pitch-perfect accompaniment. Produced by Charles Gerhardt and engineered by Gordon Parry and Peter von Biene, this recording remains a shining example of the "golden age" of stereo – wonderful all around.
It should be noted that though this is a Red Seal label, it is a fairly early pressing in that series on medium-weight vinyl – NOT the later “floppy” vinyl.
