Although it was recorded in England, this is an American RCA Shaded Dog released in 1959. Stampers are 1S/1S. The record is NEAR MINT. The outer jacket is NEAR MINT, some creasing on the front to the left and below the violin but still shiny overall, no splits or tears in the seams, back clean and unmarked.
The LP has been played and cleaned, so it should sound better than an uncleaned copy. Certainly it will play well enough for demonstration quality sound, which this LP has in abundance.
This is one of the most remarkable violin concerto records I've ever heard. The Brahms isn't exactly a seldom played piece. There's Milstein and Oistrakh and Heifetz, to name the fiddlers three, but Szeryng's performance is sublime as well. This is one of the best recordings made during the Golden Age. Unfortunately it's a rarity that too few people have heard. It's an extraordinary performance with great sound. One of RCA's triumphs!
