Description

Hard to find nice copy of the modern classic. Audiophiles should know Arnold through his British Dances. Here he applies his trademark neoclassic style in writing this wonderful concerto. Contrary to all other recordings I've heard, here Julian Bream (dedicatee of the piece) plays with a small ensemble with only one instrument to a part. It helps tremendously with razor sharp definition of instruments and great clarity. Quite unusual to see Arthur Lilley in classical recording session for RCA!

Producer: Michael Bremner

Engineer: Arthur Lilley

Recording location/date: West Hampstead Studios/14-15 Sep 1959

Issued: 1961

Record condition: EX-/EX+ (some light rubbing marks/scuffs, plays very well w/ odd light statics)

Cover condition: EX- (ring wear and markings on back)

Stamper: 1S/1S shaded dog label pressing

Note: I'm a collector, not a dealer. The reason I'm selling is to downsize my collection. Every record I offer was hand-picked based on its merits on music, performance, and sonics (not necessarily in that order!). I will list recording credentials such as producer, engineer, venue, date, etc. as I believe as an educated buyer, these will offer crucial info for an unfamiliar record to make a buying judgement. Hope you'll find this useful!
