"This is a superb and majestic recording which sets a standard . . . The stage is quite 3-dimensiona, choral and solo intelligibility is high, and the orchestra, as is usual on a Wilkinson disc, is richly textured and colored.  Recorded 1959 at Walthamstow-Wilkie's first session with Beecham.  (Wilkinson notes that the remarkably good sound on this disc was somewhat fortutiously achieved in that Beecham demanded that Wilkie make a test recording before Wilkinson had heard the orchestra rehearse a single note!"  - The RCA Bible by Jonathan Valin
