In 1924 Columbia started up it’s new country series (the 15,000’s) on their new process platters, and it was a great time to capture some real in-the-hills country music.
I don’t know much about the Red Mountain Trio, but will assume they were from the Red Mountain area in Alabama, home to a lot of great country music. This record finds them in April of 1928, and is the first of about four singles they cut for the label. The most curious selection here is their version of the “Wang Wang Blues” which is flipped with “Home Again (Medley).”
