R.E.M. — Radio Free Europe — Hib-Tone (1981: HT-0001)
Second pressing of R.E.M.'s first single, in NM/NM condition. Purchased new September 1981, vinyl bagged, played fewer than a dozen times. Sleeve in near-EX condition, virtually no yellowing and no ring wear; but with small scuff/spot from its brief time on retail display. (See scan for details.)
All in all, a beautiful copy of this rare gem.
I'm selling off part of my personal collection of rare and collectible 45s and LPs. Unless otherwise noted, these were purchased new at the time of release, vinyl-bagged, stored out of direct sunlight, and played — sparingly — on well-maintained, high-end turn-tables. In the late '80s and early '90s I was an avid music fan; occasional journalist, writing for Trouser Press and Musician; and co-founder and manager of an independent label out of Washington, DC. These days, though, I've grown lazy and complacent, seduced by the ease of digital. While I'll never part with disks that hold a special meaning for me, I figured, "Why not give others a chance to own pristine copies of recordings that mean something special to them?"
And, you know, maybe pay down a few bills at the same time....
