Grammy nominated producer Salaam Rem is a legendary artist whose latest solo album is another essential one. He uses the record to reflect on his own perspective of what it means to be black in 2021. It features some high class collaborative guests such as Nas, Busta Rhymes, Jennifer Hudson, Super Cat and Common as well as spoken word snippets from figures like Malcom X. As fierce as the message often is, the music is soulful and uplifting. There are neo-soul beats like 'Home Vacation', slow jazz jams like 'Strange Fruit' and classic boom-bap era jams like 'Yonder.'
