RENNAISSANCE ‘NOVELLA’ GATEFOLD SLEEVE FIRST PRESSING A1 + B1 NEAR MINT VINYL LP COMPLETE WITH ORIGINAL 1977 PRESS RELEASE
Sleeve Condition: Near Mint. There is no evidence that I can detect of wear or handling apart from the slightest of bumps to spine, which is still perfectly flat and legible. This is particularly remarkable given the delicate nature of the matt, unlaminated sleeve. The interior is pristine. A stunning sleeve!
The press release is in similar, not quite Near Mint condition but without marking, creases or tears.
Record Condition: Near Mint. Before I tested it, I suspect this record has never been played. There is certainly no evidence of it having seen a turntable and no spindle centring marks whatever around the label. Most would grade as Mint. It is of course, the very first pressing with A1 + B1 stamper codes in the dead wax.
It is rare for any record to turn up in this condition: rarer still to surface in a sleeve so delicate but still so almost untouched. This, the very first pressing status and the addition of the press release, dated 2nd September 1977, make this a real find. This is truly what many would call, archive condition. An opportunity never to be repeated, to acquire a one-off, collector’s item.

A sublime Renaissance album! Following the marvelous "Song for Scheherazade", Novella still has many of its magical moments. There are wonderful orchestral arrangements and unforgettable melodic piano parts.
Annie's voice is superb, as always, and the other musicians produce excellent backing vocals. There are harp, small bells, tubular bells and acoustic guitar. The keyboards fit well with the symphonic ensemble. The influence is, again, very baroque and progressive. There are some mellow, delicate, mystical & dreamy bits which are really addictive. Wonderful, evocative, enchanting 1970’s orchestral prog!
