7" vinyl record released in the black hole often referred to as the 80s.  What a horrible time for mainstream music.  Yet underneath all of that you had people like Dinosaur Jr. Pixies My Bloody Valentine Black Flag Minor Threat...y'know what I'm sayin'.  This is a beauty of a single that you don't see very often.  And I don't really want to sell mine, but I'll be damned if I'm not the poorest person on the planet.  Maybe if I were Chris and actually RAN Reptilian/Scapegoat I'd have a dollar or two, but I'm a slow-witted galoot (sp?) with nary a shekel to my name.  So I'm selling off things I was lucky enough to get from a radio station or 3, or lucky enough to buy because I'm old.  I'm nearly 100 years old!

Reptile House was a band.  Were a band?  I can spell, but I'm retarded with English grammar rules.  Reptile House BE a band?  No, they don't be any more.  I mean, they aren't a band any more.  Vocalist Daniel V. Strasser is the guy who changed his name and became a local singer/shaman/poet/tattoo artist/guitarist/painter/artist/phenomenon here in my town of Baltimore.  (Murder capital).  He's been Daniel Higgs for years.  Or Daniel Higgs A.I.U.  Or Daniel Arcus Incus Ululat Higgs.  Singer for Lungfish when I first saw him.  I came to town because I was dating a girl at Shepherd College a couple hours away, and was thinking of moving here.  Picked out a bar (Chambers), went to see a band (Lungfish, when they only had their first EP out), and it was tiny, packed, I was up front, and they were as tight as anyone I've ever seen live, with Higgs at the front, bearded, never smiling, eyes closed half the time, rocking back and forth, completely in the thrall of the wonderful damned repetitive groove they were locked into.  It actually convinced me to move to this dirty horror of a city.

Anyway...

Daniel Higgs of Lungfish, Joe Goldsborough who started Merkin Records, London May of Samhain as well as Son of Sam, Tiger Army, Sheppard Pratt, Voice of Doom, Dag Nasty, Distorted Pony, The Amazing Chan Clan, Lunchbox, Dead White and Blue, and The Foul and The Fragrant.  Chuck Biscuits (Danzig, DOA D.O.A., Fear, Descendents, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Social Distortion, Black Flag, Circle Jerks) took his place in Reptile House. Ian MacKaye, singer etc., all around good guy (he saw my band Cinnamon Toast at a gig where I was a shambles, and afterward came up to ask who our drummer was.  He's like Dave Grohl junior.  Anyway, I know lots of folk who know him, and they swear he's the real thing, Mr.) and Fugazi / Minor Threat / etc. member produced this.  Don Zientara engineered.  Inner Ear recorded it.  Dischord Records put it out along with Druid Hill Records.

 See the photographs for samples of the samples of the sample.  What?  No, to see the sleeve, record, and original lyric/info insert.  The cover and insert are beautiful and well-preserved.  No stains or browning of the white parts.  There's hardly any wear at all because the gatefold cover is smaller than the inner sleeve of the 45 itself, so anything that would have happened just happened to the generic white sleeve.  But this is as close to NM- or EX+ as you'll ever see.  The vinyl itself is handsome as well.  I'm not going to subject it to the crummy turntable I have now, but I only ever listened to it a handful of times (less than 5 I'd bet), so it's EX at the least.
