Condition: This record has a highly unusual defect! It is cracked around the outer edge of the record for about a quarter of the circumference (see photos) The crack is through the run in grooves but miraculously the record is still playable! On "Cut You Lose" I can put the stylus anywhere at the start and the record will play normally, albeit with a noise while it jumps to the other side of the crack! On "Soul Street" if put the stylus anywhere it will not play and the only way is to find the part of the run in groove that is the "good" side of the crack Obviously this is an undesirable situation especially if you value your stylus and cartridge. On both sides it is very easy to position the stylus past the crack with sufficient groove to be able to start the deck without "crashing" the music. I have included sound files that highlight the situation. On Soul Strret I have included the three attempts to try and place the stylus anywhere and then the one where I place it past the crack. The general level of sound is certainly VG+ - Listen! Obviously this is a monster rare item that sells on ebay for over $1000 in good condition. I haven't got a clue what this is worth! I suppose there is the possibility of somehow painstakingly gluing the crack and then wiping all excess glue away!? I doubt it :)
