Amazing !!! An unbelievable piece: What we have here is an unheard-of TEST PRESSING of this legendary Phil Spector's Wall of Sound production.  While many test pressings often have alternate or demo- versions of known, later released songs, and while it is possible that this particular test pressing contains demo or alternate versions of some of the tracks, please don’t take our word that it does:

PLEASE NOTE: THIS TEST PRESSING APPARENTLY NEVER HAD A CUSTOM COVER;  THE ALBUM WILL BE SHIPPED IN A PLAIN, GENERIC [WHITE] CARDBOARD COVER. TEST PRESSINGS ARE RARELY – IF EVER – FOUND IN CUSTOM (STOCK) COVERS.

As far as we are concerned - notwithstanding Maria Callas, Tim Buckley and Robert Plant -  white people can't sing (yours truly is an unabashed European-American, , so there is no racial element here). Alas, there are some exceptions to this rule: the gorgeous voices of Scott Walker, Tim Buckley, Roy Orbison, Elvis Presley, Everly Brothers, Patsy Cline, and Paul McCartney come to mind. But the king of all blue-eyed soul singers, in our modest view, has got to be Bill Medley. If you've never heard his majestic, glorious, soaring, deeply spiritual vocal performance in "You've lost that lovin' feelin" (which is practically impossible to replicate), of course you don’t know what we are talking about. The song, which we must insist is BOTH Phil Spector's finest production and Bill Medley's shining hour remains our personal #1 vocal performance of all time. It is simply a work of genius from start to finish; three minutes of pure gut-wrenching emotional agony and ecstasy. This album does NOT have "You've lost that lovin' feelin", but it does contain one of the biggest hits of the Brothers' career: the ethereal, otherworldy ballad "Ebb Tide" This version is much punchier than the subsequent versions, with the strong emphasis on vocals, and lacks the added layers of syrupy strings overdubbed later. In addition, this album contains a variety of great soul and R& B ballads, including reworking of Billie Holiday's "God Bless the Child",Ray Charles' "Hallelujah I love her so", and an old standard (apparently taken from Sam Cooke's version) "For Sentimental Reasons", showing the Brothers' great love for black music. (IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS STRONG VG++, JUST A NOTCH BELOW NEAR MINT. A few light abrasions (probably just sleeve scuffs inflicted in storage over the years) ARE VISIBLE, but they appear fairly  insignificant relative to the overall condition of the vinyl, and are only moderately visually distracting. For most part, the vinyl looks impeccable, without any MAJOR visual flaws or imperfections. Much of the original luster is intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)            The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)           Stereo  pressing of this title is much rarer, and by far more preferable to its mono  counterpart. The mix is more graphic, the sound resolution more precise, and the channel separation (which does not exist on mono version) adds a whole new dimension to the music. Also, the stereo mixes are (by definition) somewhat different than on the mono version. We estimate that mono copies of this album outnumber stereo copies  by a ratio of at least 10:1.

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!
