Description

Ritual The Summoning BLACK VINYL LP re-release.  The finest US black metal album ever made finally getting a proper vinyl release.  Extremely limited to 200 copies on black vinyl. Ritual was formed in 1993 by Robert Nusslein (bass/vocals) Mike Pardi (guitar/vocals) and Mitch Brown (drums). By the end of '93, two rehearsal demos were distributed during the glorious "tape trading" era, and in 1994 Ian Fleming joined the band on guitar/vocals and keys, adding an entirely new dynamic to the songwriting. Wild Rags records showed an interest in Ritual, and in late 1994 the debut album "The Summoning" was recorded and released in early 1995, to much praise on the international metal scene. As one of the first American Black Metal bands, Ritual wasted no time writing and recording the 1997 follow up "Demonic Winter Metal," which took a heavier, less atmospheric approach, while still keeping the dual guitar melodies that Ritual had become known for. In 1998, with only two original members remaining, Ritual released "Soldiers Under Satan's Command," which showcased a more classic metal approach. With the folding of Wild Rags records and the involvement of the Ritual members in other musical projects, the band went on a hiatus that was to last until 2010, when Ian Fleming brought Ritual back to life with the aptly named release "The Resurrection." In 2015, a new Ritual record is in the works.
