My Sunday bonus item this week is an original 1981 stereo U.S. Silver Label Recording Records LP titled 'Rainbow Thunder - Songs Of The American West', an album of folk songs dedicated to the Native Americans who originally populated the American West from acoustic folk troubadour Robbie Basho. It is Silver Label Recording Records catalog number SLR-029, and appears to be a RARE ITEM which has not been offered on eBay during the past month either at auction or at fixed price sale as far as I can tell. Robbie Basho writes in the back cover liner notes: "Rainbow Thunder is a collection of songs expressing the feelings and textures of the West in its Prime, and of the Native American Peoples who lived there. I hope it does them some small degree of justice - they who looked so hard into Nature." Robbie Basho performs the following songs solo, accompanying himself on 6- and 12-string guitar: Redwood Ramble, Crashing Thunder, Moving Up A'Ways, Legend Of Mount Tamalpias, Rainbow Thunder, The Pathfinder, The White Buffalo, Home Again, The Long Lullaby, Black Hills Soliloquy. A lyric sheet insert is also included. This LP is in real nice overall condition - Condition of record is a real nice VG++ with all original gloss and just a couple of very small and light surface marks which cannot be felt and do not affect play. Record plays beautifully with just a little very light surface noise in a few isolated spots. Labels have no real problems. Condition of cover is VG+ with a few wrinkles, a some general contact wear as can be seen in the accompanying image, and some wear along the edges and on the corners. Cover has no splits, tears, writing or stickers. A scarce addition to any Robbie Basho, folk, or Native American-related record collection!
