Description

Artist: ROBERT ASHLEY

Title
: IN SARA, MENCKEN, CHRIST AND BEETHOVEN THERE WERE MEN AND WOMEN

Format: LP

Label: CRAMPS RECORDS, Italy (CRSLP 6103)

Year: 1974

Style: electronic, avant-garde, experimental, spoken word

Info: Impossible to find original pressing which was number 3 in the Nova Musicha series, this is out there electronic experimentation of the highest and most satisfying kind! A surreal monologue is spoken uninterrupted while the analogue electronics twist, bubble, turn and pop in the background...

Comes in gatefold sleeve and is complete with original printed inner sleeve.

Recorded in 1972 at Center for Contemporary Music, Mills College, Oakland, California.

Though this work is a collaboration with Paul DeMarinis, this original release did not give him equal credit, and this was not remedied until the album was reissued.

Robert Ashley, a distinguished figure in American contemporary music, holds an international reputation for his work in new forms of opera and multi-disciplinary projects. His recorded works are acknowledged classics of language in a musical setting. Born in Michigan, America in 1930 Robert Ashley was educated at the University of Michigan and the Manhattan School of Music. At the University of Michigan, he worked at the Speech Research Laboratories (psycho-acoustics and cultural speech patterns), and was employed as a Research Assistant in Acoustics at the Architectural Research Laboratory.

Two tracks:-

-side 1:
PARTE PRIMA (20:00)

-side 2:
PARTE SECONDA (20:00)

Vinyl in excellent condition with just a bit of light surface wear visible and plays nicely!
Labels are clean with an Italian export stamp on side 1.
Sleeve in very good+ condition with mild general wear and no noticeable outstanding faults. Slight scuffs on corners a bit of mild discolouring on the white areas. Main spine is still intact although the writing looks slightly faded. There is a minor stain on rear near the top right corner which has also just reached the top of the main spine and a few millimetres onto the front. Inside looks great with just light wear. No writing, splits, creases or stickers anywhere.
Inner sleeve has a couple of creases at the edges and partial splits in the spines.

I grade the condition according to UK standards.

Will be posted in strong professional packaging to avoid damage in transit.

I do combined postage rates if you are thinking of buying more than one item.
