This is an original 1959 USA issue of "ROCKIN' WITH THE CHAMPS" by THE CHAMPS on Challenge Records CHL-605. This was their follow-up album to their first LP "Go Champs Go". "Rockin" was also the first album to feature future stars Seals and Croft. Jimmy Seals is the Saxaphone player and Dash "BoneYard" Croft is the drummer. This is also considered their best album of all that were released. It is hard rockin' and features Dave Burgess with help from Chuck Rio.

The record cover is so hard to find without a wear ring but this cover does not have a wear ring. The top and bottom seams and the spine along with the printing on the spine is graded at MINT 9! I see no flaws at all. The back is virgin white. The front still retains all its colors. There is shrink wrap on the album cover that reflects my camera flash in a negative way. Any white areas on the front of the cover are caused by the camera flash. The white spots are not on the cover. I grade the overall cover as NEAR-MINT 8 to MINT 9!

The record itself is machine stamped in the matrix vinyl (dead wax next to the labels) guaranteeing authenticity (both of The Champs first two albums were counterfeited but are easy to spot as neither has the machine stamping nor printing on the spine...Most rare albums were counterfeited and I have spent 21 years gathering information on these counterfeits...)! The vinyl is glossy and glistening. It easily grades at NEAR-MINT 8 with only a handful of paper whiskers that show up under a bright light!

The record labels are Blue with Silver Print which I can not get a clear picture of. They have the Challenge Oval Logos at the top (1ST PRESS). During the early 1960's, the Blue label was changed to a Challenge "BLOCK" Logo. See THE KNICKERBOCKERS album "LIES" for an example. The printing on these labels is sharp and clear in reality and the labels are Deep Groove Labels.

The sound quality using my Technics Sound System is graded at Excellent Plus! Great sound with almost no surface noise. And by the way, how anyone can listen to this album without grabbing their girlfriend and beginning to dance is beyond me. This album really rocks!
