Description
This is the long deleted and hard to find roger waters vinyl album from 2002 "Amused to Death". It is a limited edition 2 album set mastered from direct to laquer from the original analogue tapes.
It is complete with the 16 page booklet. I have owned the album from new,bought in 1995 from rhythym records in london. I have only played it 3 or 4 times and it has not been played for the last 10 years. when it has been played it has been on a top quality audio system (linn sondek LP12/naim aro/dynavedtor cartridge/naim amplication/tom evans groove/linn speakers).
The vinyl records are still in excellent condition with no jumps . Because they have been played and there are a couple of visible marks when held to light i am not rating them mint.I am not a professional dealer so am not expert on rating but i would say they come somewhere between excellent/nr mint. The vinyl retains a very good sheen. The red columbia labels are very good with some small wear marks around the holes. In the run out grooves are etched "ROGER WATERS " in capitals. The labels state Made in Holland, which a number of theses pressings were at the time.
The inner black sleeves are fine, with minor creasing .
The booklet is in fine condition,no bends,tears and only minor creasing from where it has been housed in the packaging.
The cover has a label on it.This the original label and it sits underneath the picture of the monkey watching the tv. That came with this pressing. Besides the album details it lists the tracks ,followed by the "Limited edition 2 album vinyl mastered " etc as previously mentioned.Roger Waters name is also pressed into the cover:visible when you move the album in light.There is also the original price sticker still on the album which I have left in tact as I do not want to potentially damage the cover. Because the cover is black and was finished in a shiny ,almost laminated type finish,it marks easily. As a consequence there are a number of rubbings,particularly on the edges.There is a small tear on the bottom l/h corner of the rear of the cover of about a quarter of an inch.there are some creasings on the cover .
A very rare and collectible item. I have a detailed print out from wikipedia which some interesting facts about the album. In particular it references that on the track "Perfect Sense Part 1, Waters does a backmasked voice revealed as "Julia,however,in light and visions of the issues of Stanley,we have changed our minds.We have decided to include a backward message,stanley, for you and all the other book burners" It is believed that this is a reference to stanley kubriks refusal to allow roger to sample a piece from 2001 a space odyssey.
