Description
Roky Erickson - All That May Do My Rhyme (Trance TR33), 1994. STILL SEALED
The classic "come-back" album from Texas legend, Roky Erickson. Erickson, of the 13th Floor Elevators, is one of Texas's musical treasures, lost for so many years due to mental health issues and extremely poor guidance and care from those who surrounded him. In the 90's, his brother Sumner, a concert tuba player with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, stepped in, won legal custody of Roky and nursed him back to health, whipped him into prime musical shape and, once again, unleashed him on the music world. This LP was put together in the midst of Sumner's legal campaign to gain legal custody of his brother. Released in 1994, this contains new material and re-worked, re-mixed versions of recordings made in the 80s. Contains some of Roky's best work.
Featured herein is Lou Ann Barton, who duets with Roky on a version of his classic song, "Starry Eyes". Produced by Speedy Sparks, bassist for The Texas Tornados and many other great Austin bands including Joe King Carrasco and El Molino (whose LP is available elsewhere in our auctions) along with Casey Monahan, director of the Texas Music Office and Stuart Sullivan. Featured musicians include Sparks, Charlie Sexton, Frosty Smith, Sumner Erickson, John Reed, Harry Hess, Paul Leary, Ernie Durawa and John Hagen.
Coming in the heyday of Compact Discs, there were not many copies of this pressed on vinyl. Here's an original in its factory-applied cellophane shrinkwrap. Untouched.
