Description
ROKY ERICKSON - "Openers"
Rare set of Roky Erickson performances from 1979, both acoustic and with the Explosives.
Long out of print, this set of recordings are pretty hard to find these days. Contains great versions of Roky classics including "Don't Slander Me" and "Two-Headed Dog".
Released on 5 Hours Back, 1988, catalogue number: TOCK 010.
Condition:
EXCELLENT. The vinyl is unmarked and plays well. The cover has some minor corner creases and mild ring-wear.
NB: I use the Record Collector Magazine grading scale - see below for details.
Track listing:
Side one: "When You Get Delighted" \ "To Think" \ "Warning" \ "True Love Cast Out All Evil" \ "Loving Isn't a Part Time Thing"
Side two: "The Looking Glass Song" \ "Don't Slander Me" \ "Cold Night for Alligators" \ "Two-Headed Dog" \ "Bermuda" \ "White Faces"

Shipping and postage
I pack all my records in extra strong, re-inforced DefendaPack record mailers. These are self-locking corrugated cardboard mailers - much stronger than the usual record mailers. I also take the vinyl out from the cover to prevent splitting and pad the whole package with bubble wrap to help ensure that records are not damaged in the post.
My packaging costs and weighs a bit more than usual - this makes my postage rates slightly higher than some large-scale record dealers. However, I do believe my approach makes the postage pretty reliable and I can discount postage rates for multiple purchases:
1 Record 2 Records 3 Records UK: £2.99 £3.25 £3.85 Europe: £3.75 £4.90 £6.00 Rest of the world: £6.20 £8.50 £10.70Note that a double album counts as two single albums for postage purposes.
Given my work commitments I cannot commit to next-day shipping, though I normally try to process orders as quickly as possible - I always ship records within four working days of payment.
Please note that any packages sent outside the UK worth more than £41 will incur a £4 insurance charge.
Record grading
I use the standard Record Collector Magazine scale for grading records:
MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
