COMMENTS
This is really is an extremely rare 45, which I found whilst working in Switzerland. Since then I have only heard of one other copy, which was on a French Vinyl sales site asking for an astronomic amount of money. This is a French release but the songs are performed in English. The sound is is so strong and powerful but that is typical of many Decca discs of the early 60's. So we have here a very young 'Stones playing 2 very vibrant pieces of R&B and the sound is so good with only the crackle before the songs start and at the end, stopping me from describing that sound as perfect. CAROL is the Chuck Berry number and CAN I GET A WITNESS is by E. & B. Holland/ Dozier, the Motown geniuses, of course. The young 'Stones deliver both classic 60's R&B songs in a raw and powerful form with lots of youthful vigour. As well as the guitars, vocals and drums you would expect, you can also hear a great piano contribution quite up front in the mix ... perhaps Nicky Hopkins?
