The Rolling Stones : Aftermath
This first pressing on the unboxed Red Decca label has superb audio quality and has the grooved label with Mick, Keith etc written in small text.

The audio on S1 is Near Mint (Mint in many sections / 'Stupid Girl' is Ex due to one small skip/pop)

Visual grading
This vinyl is in lovely condition for its 50+ years and it retains a strong glossy sheen. S1 has only four obvious hairline type marks but as detailed below the audio is of an immaculate standard. S2 is even cleaner with only one faint hairline that again has no bearing on the quality of the audio. As you would expect there is some spindle wear but this record has been so carefully handled down the years and remains in overall wonderful condition. There are no scratches. The run out grooves are also beautifully clean.
Play grading
S1 has hardly any lead in static and plays with stunning quality throughout. 'Mothers Little Helper' plays so clearly you cannot believe you're listening to an unboxed red Decca pressing. There is no 'background' at all, the audio is incredible. 'Stupid Girl' has the same wonderful clarity but with one small skip about one minute in. I played this section a number of times and sometimes it played as a dull pop other times as a small skip. This is the only interference on this track. So often vinyls of this age will play with at least some static/crackle in the background but here the audio is so clear and the clarity is absolutely stunning. 'Lady Jane' is a fantastic example of this. It plays with Near Mint quality and rarely have I heard this quiet track play with such stunning precision. I cannot over-state just how well it plays! In all honesty the grading should be Mint the definition and sonic quality is breathtakingly good! 'Under My Thumb' continues this superlative sound with no 'background' again and 'Doncha Bother Me' equals the standard with only a couple of light clicks at the start but impresses with superb audio from that point on. What can I say about 'Goin' Home'? You just have to hear it to believe it! It is quiet simply sensational from beginning to end. Such a quiet track and yet I have never heard it play with such fantastic clarity and depth. There is no interference, the audio is of an incredible standard for such an early pressing. The bass comes through superbly and again I rarely use a Mint grading but it deserves it, as simple as that. There is no static, no crackle, no clicks, no pops - just pure sounding superlative audio! I do not over-grade as my feedback testifies and I can categorically state this is the best unboxed 'Aftermath' I have ever heard thus far.
'Flight 505' has a little static on the intro but thereafter has no further interference apart from a couple of light clicks on the fade out. 'High And Dry' plays perfectly and the quiet intro on 'Out Of Time' is sublime with no static, clicks etc - it is stunning. The remainder of the track plays with the same 'high end' quality. 'It's Not Easy' again has no interference, just a little distortion on the top level. 'I Am Waiting' has a minimal amount of light static on the quiet intro and fade out (and I mean minimal!) but from then on has wonderfully clear audio. 'Take It Or Leave It' plays to near perfection and whilst 'Think' has no clicks, crackle etc there is again some distortion on the top level. Nothing intrusive though. 'What To Do' ends this classic album with minimal distortion only. The clarity again is superb and rarely have I heard better.
In summary this mega early pressing plays with wonderful clarity and almost no intrusive interference. There is just the one obvious small skip/pop on 'Stupid Girl' but aside from that the audio is of an extremely high standard. For a vinyl of this age to play so clearly and with such depth and definition is a rarity and will not disappoint the avid collector.
Cover
The 'Robert Stace' cover is very clean overall with a little shelf wear here and there. The edges are in superb condition with only a couple of rub marks on the top edge and the thin pinched spine is also in great shape with no wear and remains 100% legible. The corners have only a small amount of wear. The front cover has no marking and the only obvious wear is a very small tear on the opening edge which also has some handling wear. The back cover is also very clean with a little age related fading and there is a name written next to the tracklisting and OK on the bottom corner.
Inner sleeve
The original poly-lined inner sleeve has no splits just some age related fading and creasing.
The labels
The grooved unboxed red Decca labels are in near perfect condition with only some spindle wear and no writing/marks. The KT tax stamp is on the run out grooves.
