Here we have the 1st issue 1968 Rolling Stones lp on blue unboxed Decca ffss with silver text SKL 4955, Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve as no Rev Wilkins credit & as “Patents Pending” indicating this as a true 1st edition....
Laminated gatefold Sleeve is in excellent condition with no tears, ring wear, scrawl, deep discolouration or fraying...been stored in plastic sleeve protector......no crackle or loss of laminate....
Spine is fully legible...for a 43 yr old sleeve its in remarkably good condition.....inner gatefold perfect....looking at other examples of this delicate sleeve...this is the best one I’ve seen.......
still as original blue text decca poly lined inner sleeve.......
Heavy quality deep grooved vinyl shows visual signs of play...this is the rarer stereo issue...
Side 1- (Xzal-8476-1k).....(mother stamps 1-dc)...various light hairlines...no deep digs or gouges...
Side 2- (Xzal-8477-3k) ....(mother stamps 1--ca) shows minimal signs of play, better than side 1, labels are free of scrawl etc, does show spindle lines, ....
Sound quality....Side 1, no crackle or clicks on run in on “Sympathy” or intro...clean sounding throughout....no crackle or clicks to run in/intro to “No Expectations”
Clean throughout......no crackle or clicks to run in or intro “Dear Doctor” , slight click to end...& then into intro of ”Parachute Woman” then stops...
No clicks or crackle on run in/ intro to “Jig-saw Puzzle” ..........
All in all would rate VG-Excellent....though not mint....honestly. .this sounds fantastic & as no annoying loud crackle or repetitive clicks....
The occasional barely audible “pop” on last track...”jig saw” but nothing to disturb the listening experience of this superb early 1st press album
..........
Side 2....No crackle or clicks on run in/ intro to “Street fighting Man” clean...no crackle or clicks to run in/intro to “Prodigal Son”...clean through out....
No crackle or clicks to run in/ intro to “Stray Cat Blues”....clean through out...
About 3 Barely noticeable crackles to run in/intro to “Factory Girl” that disappears after about 4 seconds...hardly worth mentioning really....but I strive to be honest... No crackle or clicks to run in/intro to “Salt of the Earth”...clean through out....
all in all an a really nice example & perfectly playable to a high expectation (you know what I mean) ...though not mint would grade as VG to Excellent....full refund if not happy......happy bidding....Overseas bidders Please email if you win....Europe £8.75..signed for
