From my own personal collection I am pleased to offer an exceptional MINT- example of the brilliant studio album by THE ROLLING STONES titled “BEGGARS BANQUET”, Catalogue Number SKL 4955. This is an ORIGINAL 1968 UK STEREO 1st PRESSING on the UNBOXED DECCA RECORD LABEL, with a superb 1st ISSUE GARROD & LOFTHOUSE LTD laminated gatefold sleeve. Complete with the correct white poly-lined Decca inner sleeve. [The sleeve is the earliest possible design with “Patents Pending” text on the back cover. The matrix numbers are XZAL-8476-2K and XZAL-8477-2K].
The sleeve is in EX condition with only very light signs of wear and only really one crease worthy of mention which is to the left side near the top edges (as viewed from the front). The creamy white coloration is still lovely and bright with only minimal age discoloration.
The top quality Decca record is in MINT- condition. It’s a nice mid-weight pressing which sits perfectly flat on the turntable. The vivid blue Decca labels are like new with just 3 or 4 short spindle traces each side. There is no wear to the spindle hole. I can confirm that the record has only received a few careful plays. The sound quality of these Decca stereo 1st pressings is truly exceptional – very loud-cut, powerful and vibrant with impressive bass and tone. Both sides of this cherished vinyl play essentially as new. The audio playback is faultless. Lead-in and linking grooves play with near silence and there is virtually no unwanted noise at all. If you are looking for the very best-playing 1st press copy available – look no further!
The correct white poly-lined Decca inner sleeve is in unmarked EX+ condition.
Overall this is a magnificent barely-played 1st press copy which plays stone cold MINT throughout.
GRADINGS
The records that I offer for sale have been critically play-graded, at loud volume, on a Rega P5 turntable fitted with an Elys 2 cartridge. I will only sell records that play to a high standard. My gradings are strict and in accordance with the following descriptions:
· MINT- Record is superb, almost like new, with just a few sleeve removal type surface marks and no deterioration in sound quality. Sleeve is near perfect in all respects.
· EX Record is a top quality example, with just a few very light surface marks which do not sound, and barely any discernable deterioration in sound quality. Sleeve has slight wear and/or creasing.
· VG Record has some visual surface marks, but still plays to a high standard without any major deterioration in sound quality – just a few clicks or light surface sound in places. Sleeve has normal wear and tear without any major defects. Still a very presentable sleeve.
