Description
Here we have a very nice item from forty long years back. A Mono edition of Beggars Banquet (I shall be keeping my Stereo edition from the same era) on the unboxed Decca label. The Garrod and Lofthouse cover is beautifully legible and clear, and there only a few very minor creases on the back where the disc has been taken out, plus minor denting between where the tracks are written. The registration number is LK 4955 and the matrices in the dead wax are XARL-8476-4A (with JT, 1 and C) and XARL-8477-2A (with JT, 1 and what appears to be five dots, as on a dice). There is evidence of spindle marking around the centre holes, but for its advanced age this disc has not been beaten up. It sounds lovely and clear; a little crackle at the start before the music and then clean sound to the end of the first side, marred only by a scuff which sounds with a quiet, dull pop while the track concludes. Likewise, clear sound on the second side, again only with a couple of light marks which should not cause any great concern. There really is great quality in the sound here. The inner bag is its original and bears the message MADE IN ENGLAND and its patent number. I class the package as Excellent for its age, a real beauty to see and hear. Take a look at the major picture where you can see the outer and inner sleeve. Any questions you want to ask, don't hold back. Get in, one and all.
