ROLLING STONES EXILE TARLÉ GENESIS RARE PHOTO BOOK

On offer here is a rare copy of the completely sold-out luxury ROLLING STONES photography book EXILE, by French photographer Dominique Tarlé, published by GENESIS PUBLICATIONS in 2001.

EXILE was published in an edition of just 2000 copies, each of which were signed by Dominique Tarlé. This copy is signed by Tarlé but is not numbered — it is a rare 'review copy', complete with a hand stamp on the title page describing as such. It is quarter-bound in leather with gilt page edges and inlaid label on the front cover. It's a beautiful book, a fantastic artefact by any standards. It's also huge, measuring 360mm x 250mm and weighing about 3kg. It comes with an original colour flyer advertising the book.

EXILE celebrates the recording of the Stones' classic, and arguably best album, 'Exile On Main Street'. To quote the publishers, "EXILE features the exceptional photographs of celebrated French rock photographer Dominique Tarlé taken during his stay with Keith Richards and Anita Pallenberg at Villa Nellcôte during the summer of 1971. This extraordinary collection of images ranks amongst the finest and most revealing ever taken of The Rolling Stones or of any rock band. Remarkably, as a body of work it has remained unpublished for 30 years - until now. The Stones are depicted working and relaxing in the South of France."

The publishers also say: "Visually stunning and an exhaustive study, EXILE provides fascinating viewing and compelling reading in 248 pages containing 280 finely reproduced photographs in monochrome and full colour, and 90,000 words by key people. Also featured in the text is an extensive interview with Keith Richards — conducted at the time by Robert Greenfield, Associate Editor of Rolling Stone magazine — which now includes about 4000 words of additional text, never before published and exclusive to this book.
