This is the UK 1st Press of 'Goats Head Soup' by the Rolling Stones. This is a complete UK 1st press with earliest A2//B1 matrix, the goats head poster, the credit insert and the 1st press heavy card gatefold sleeve.
"This is the Stones most underrated album and is one of their more mellow ones. Includes one of Keith Richards' best lead vocals ever, on "Coming Down Again", and Mick Taylor's best guitar solo, found on "Winter", which just sparkles. "Angie" is the best of the bunch here, who cares who Mick Jagger is signing about anyway. His lead vocals are excellent on this song and on 'Winter" too, another ballad that's a winner, even if Keef didn't play on it. "100 Years Ago" is one more slow but powerful song. The best rocker on this one (really, the only true rocker found on Goats Head Soup) is "Starfucker", which had to be released on the earliest press as "Star Star."
The record is in Excellent+ condition. The vinyl has a sensational high gloss, it has clearly only been played a few times. On playing the sound is warm, rich and exceptionally clear. The yellow Rolling Stones labels are completely clean, the yellow is bold, the black text is sharp and there is NO spindle wear.
The poster and insert are in Near Mint condition. The colours are bright, the edges are firm and they are very solid and completely unworn.
The heavy card sleeve is in Excellent condition. The yellows and browns are bold and bright. The image is sharp and the text is clear. There is just some light corner wear. When you open the sleeve, the inside is clean and exceptionally bright. The whole sleeve is still very solid and the spine is firm with clear text.
